Israel has mounted a major diplomatic campaign against Arab terrorism following the arrest–and release 24 hours later–in Amsterdam of the man now identified as an El Fatah member who was caught at the airport with letter bombs and a suitcase full of weapons and explosives.
Israeli diplomats in North and South America and Europe have been instructed to seek high level meetings in their host countries to stress Israel’s view that certain Arab embassies abroad are directly involved in the letter bomb wave and other recent acts of terrorism.
The Dutch Ambassador, Gerrit Van Jongejans, was summoned today to the Foreign Ministry for what officials described as “an exchange of views and information” on the events in Amsterdam. They would not elaborate.
