Israel passed its 2006 state budget. The $61 billion spending package was approved Wednesday in second and final readings by the Knesset, after a six-month delay. The 35-22 vote was a coup for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who has been facing growing opposition from his biggest partner in the coalition government, the Labor Party.
