Israel is producing a training version of the American Hawk ground-to-air missile, it was disclosed today. According to a report published in the newspaper Yediot Achronot, the missile is produced in sufficient quantities to meet Israel’s training needs and saves the large amounts of money that would have to be spent if regular Hawks, costing several hundred thousand dollars apiece, had to be fired in training. The report said the training version of the missile does not contain the sophisticated gear of the regular Hawk and is much cheaper to produce.
