Israel was selected today by U.N. Secretary-General Trygve Lie to participate in neutral-country discussions with the Chinese Communist delegation now visiting United Nations headquarters.
In an effort to bring Wu Hsiu-chan and his Peking delegation into contact with supposedly middle-of-the-road delegations here to confer about the Korean crisis, Mr. Lie invited the representatives of five nations to an informal dinner at his home in Forest Hills, N.Y., tonight.
Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett will be the Israel guest. The other nations invited by Mr. Lie are Sweden, Pakistan, India and Britain. All five nations have recognized the Communist Chinese Government. This will be the first un-official parley with the Chinese Communist delegation except for talks that the Indian delegate has had with Mr. Wu and conferences between Mr. Wu’s party and the Soviet delegates to the U.N.
