Israeli Army demobilization is proceeding according to plan, with the release of older and family soldiers being given priority, it was announced here today. Special consideration is also being given to army members whose families are financially in need as a result of their service.
Dr. Israel Goldstein, Jewish Agency treasurer, today addressed a group of Haoeved Hazioni members who founded a new, 4,000-dunam settlement “somewhere in the south. “The settlers are chiefly from Hungary and Carpatho-Russia. The colony has been named “Hamavkiim.” Another new colony was established in Upper Galilee by members of Hapoel Hanizrachi, most of whom are immigrants from Tripoli. Turkey and Egypt who have lived in Palestine for the past three years.
Sirens sounded in Jerusalem today for 45 minutes when a large, unidentified plane circled over the city for a half-hour. The plane landed in the Beit Jala area, beyond the Jewish lines, without incident.
