Congestion in the harbor was the cause of a collision between the “Neptune” and the “Dora,” officials who investigated the accident declared today. The accident occurred on December 13 and both ships were damaged.
The erection of a lighthouse in the estuary of the Yarkon River, on which work was begun yesterday, and dredging of the estuary to provide passage for larger boats, will effectively end the dangers which now confront ships entering the harbor, officials said.
Ships discharging passengers and cargo at Jaffa must transfer their loads to tenders. When the sea is high the ships must lie off the harbor and wait for better weather.
