Great indignation has been aroused in Jewish circles here by the confirmation of a rumor bruited last week that a number of Jewish women were circulating petitions to High Commissioner Chancellor asking him to commute the death sentences of Arabs condemned for the murder of Jews during the riots.

The commutation of these sentences is one of the major planks in the program of the Arab Executive and of the various Arab delegations abroad seeking to enlist sympathy for the Palestine Arabs. The delegation in London has been particularly concerned with this despite the recent action of the Privy Council, the highest legal tribunal, in turning down appeals from these sentences.
