The anti-Semitic weekly, Fredericus, has been banned from distribution in the Saar plebiscite region because of an article in the current issue, “Juda Beware.” The article, written by the editor of the weekly, Herr Holtz, calls for extermination of the Jews.
Although the entire German press, in accordance with orders issued this week, no longer carries any news or articles which could be used abroad as evidence of the Nazis’ continuing drive against the Jews, the Fredericus today featured the article by Holtz accusing the Jews of being guilty of creating international complications and exhorting the public to “finish the German Jews as Germany has done with the communists.”
“Our country cannot practice mercy to the Jews,” the paper states, describing the Jews as “our sworn enemies.”
As an unprecedented provocation, the paper asserts that German Jews meet in their temples and synagogues to work out all kinds of plans against Germany. It charges that Jews are financing the entire anti-German propaganda flow abroad and warns the Jews that the day is approaching when even the state will be helpless to protect them.
The Saar authorities, who are under the direction of the League of Nations Saar Basin commission, banned the publication “to maintain public security.”
