A revival of the Palestine citrus industry, which was hard hit by war-time restrictions on transportation, is expected as a result of discussions concluded here between a Jewish-Arab delegation of citrus growers and various government agencies.
The delegation, which left for Palestine last week, reported that 4,000,000 cases of oranges will be exported this winter to England and the continent and agreements were reached for paper and wood necessary for packing and also on transportation and other matters.
It was also agreed that the $14,000,000 which the Government loaned the growers during the war will be entrusted to a new Citrus Growers Bank, the board of directors of which will consist of Arab and Jewish growers and government nominees. When borrowers repay their loans to the bank, the funds will be used for further development of the citrus industry.
