The two major fund-raising efforts of the Calgary Jewish community, that of the Canadian Jewish Congress and the Zionist organizations, have been merged this year as the 1959 United Jewish Appeal of Calgary.
Jack Edelson, chairman of the Chigary branch of the Zionist Organization of Canada, and Newton Zemans, chairman of the Calgary branch of the Canadian Jewish Congress, in announcing the merger, said that the unified campaign would be Calgary Jewry’s contribution toward the “great tasks for which world Jewry now marshalls.”
