Over one thousand men and women attended a protest meeting against the Roumanian outrages held last night in the Scottish Rite Hall. San Francisco.
Rabbi Louis I. Newman, as Honorary Vice-President of the American Jewish Congress presided. Rabbi Herman Lissauer, Rabbi Wolf Gold, Rabbi Michel Fried, Richard E. Gutstadt, executive secretary of B’nai Brith, District No. 4, Judge Isadore M. Golden and I. Mosk, president of the California League of Roumanian Jews, addressed the gathering.
A resolution of protest was unanimously adopted.
At a mass meeting held in Cooper Union, New York, by the Independent Order Brith Abraham, of which Judge Gustave Hartman is Grand Master, a resolution was adopted protesting against the Roumanian excesses. The resolution declared in part: “We appeal to the entire American people and to the President and Congress of the United States, to take such stops as may be necessary and proper to put an end to all these brutalities and injustices and to help save hundreds of thousands of human beings from untold sufferings and utter extinction.”
