Jewish Department Store Owners Expelled from Union

Georg Bernhard, former editor of the “Vossische Zeitung”, and one of the Executive Directors of the Union of Proprietors of Department Stores, and his co-Director, G. Bach, both Jews, have been dismissed from their posts, following the resolution passed by the Executive Committee of the Union.

The Union, moreover, passed a resolution dismissing the Executive and replacing it by an Emergency Committee. It also requested Georg Tietz and Zalman Schocken, proprietors of two of the largest department stores in Germany to resign from the organization.

Zalman Schocken is prominent in Zionist activity in Germany.
