The Jewish Mental Health Society has gone to the courts to obtain permission for the construction of a $150,000 unit at Hastings, near here, the initial move in a $1,000,000 program planned for the institution. Building inspectors of the village of Hastings have turned down petitions for building permits for the new unit at Hastings Hillside Hospital, conducted and owned by the Jewish Society, on the ground that the proposed addition would be erected in a residential zone. Accordingly the Society has served a writ of mandamus upon the building inspectors, all of whom are members of the Zoning Board, to show cause why the permit should not be issued.
