In retaliation for their liquidation as kulaks (rich peasants) the Jewish colonists at Izrailkova. Ukrainia, all of whose property and live-stock was turned into a collective and who were themselves evicted from their homes, set fire to the collective barn that housed all of the collective’s property as well as sixty cows.

The fire caused serious damage and endangered the entire colony but it was extinguished after several hours. None of the incendiaries were apprehended but arrests have been made from among a number of suspects. There are now one hundred and fifty Jewish families in Izrailkova who have been merged into three collectives.
