Jewish religious organizations both in Europe and in the United States are on record as opposing the calendar change, as it would interfere with the observance of the Sabbath and the Holy days and result in great confusion.
Dr. Jonas Simon, president of the American League for Creative Jewishness of 644 Commonwealth Avenue, New York, a newly created organization in a statement issued yesterday declared that his organization will oppose the calendar change as it will “manufacture two Sabbaths of its own making and at the same time dethrone the Sabbath of the Lord.”
“Creative innovation cannot be brought about by the cold and deadening tools of levelling mechanization,” Dr. Simon stated.
