Dr. Cyrus Adler, president of the Jewish. Theological Seminary of America, announces that the group of buildings erected for the use of the Seminary on Broadway, from 122nd to 123rd Streets, are now complete and will be dedicated during the week of October 19 to 26. The group consists of the Jacob H. Schiff Memorial Library given by members of his family; the Unterberg Memorial Building, to house the Teachers’ Institute of the Seminary, donated by Israel Unterberg, in memory of his parents, Joseph I. and Zipporah Unterberg, and the Louis S. Brush Memorial Dormitory Building, provided for by the will of the late Louis S. Brush. The Rabbinical Department of the Seminary will continue at the old seminary building.
The formal dedication of the Schiff Memorial Library and the Unterberg Memorial Building, will take place on the Seminary Quadrangle, Sunday, October 19, and the dedication of the Brush Memorial Dormitory and Seminary Convocation will take place on Sunday, October 26. During the dedication week an exhibition of the Library and Museum collections will be arranged by the Seminary and the American Jewish Historical Society, which will be open to the public. In connection with the dedication program, a number of celebrations are being planned by the alumni and students of the Rabbinical Department and the Teachers’ Institute of the Seminary. With the opening of the new buildings, the Seminary Library will become the home of the largest collection of Hebrew books and manuscripts in the world.
