The Jewish community of Constantinople welcomed with relief the verdict of the tribunal acquitting the nine Jews arrested on the charge of having participated in the funeral of the Jewish girl Elsa Niego, which was charged to have been anti-Turkish demonstration. The prisoners were released immediately.
The soldier Avramos who was sentenced to 35 days imprisonment will be released tomorrow as his term expires counting the days he was held pending the trial.
The verdict of the court which declared all accusations against the prisoners and the Jewish community of Constantinople baseless was met by great applause in the courtroom and among the large crowds which waited outside the courthouse for the verdict.
