The Central Committee of Jews in displaced persons camps in Germany has submitted a protest to British occupation authorities against a new ruling which puts Jews of German origin, who are in need of public assistance, under the jurisdiction of the German Red Cross, according to information released by the World Jewish Congress today.

In a letter to the welfare department of the British zone headquarters, the committee charged that the German Red Cross is still pro-Nazi and in addition lacks funds for rendering the proper assistance. The committee, which is the representative body of the Jews liberated from concentration camps in the British zone, asserts further that it has notified its local committees in all camps in the British zone to refuse to cooperate with the German Red Cross.

The World Jewish Congress also reports that Rabbi David Jesseurun Cardozo of Philadelphia, chairman of the Dutch Jewish Advisory Committee of the Congress, left today for the Dutch-speaking territories in the Caribbean area to analyze at first-hand the religious and cultural problems of the Sephardic Jewish communities there, and to stimulate their further activity for the rehabilitation of the Jewish survivors in Europe. He will visit the West Indies, Dutch Guiana, the British West Indies and the Dominican Republic, and return early in April.
