Plans for building a Pardess Anna colony (the orchard of Anna) in Palestine at a cost of $50,000 to solve the problem of the graduates of the Children’s Village in Meier Shfeyah were adopted at the eighth annual convention of the Junior Hadassah. Children interested in the farm and orange plantations will be trained at this colony.
Louis Lipsky spoke at the morning session. He praised the Junior Hadassah as representing the vigor and freshness of American Jewish youth with its specific task to accomplish in Palestine. Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver expressed the hope that the Junior Hadassah members would continue their Palestine work and spread its activities among the American Jewish youth.
More than 200 delegates from all parts of the country are attending the convention. Greetings were received from Henrietta Szold, founder of the Hadassah. Brief addresses were made by Samuel Blumenfeld, president of the Avukah and Max Seligman, a Palestinian now visiting in this country.
