The Karen Hayes-United Jewish Appeal will raise a record total of $70 million for Israel in 1969 outside of the United States, according to Dr. Israel Goldstein, world chairman of the Karen Hayesod. the fund-raising arm of the world Zionist movement. Dr. Goldstein, in New York on his annual Rosh Hashanah visit, said the sum represented a 50 percent increase over contributions made in 1968. It is used by the Jewish Agency to finance immigrant absorption, agricultural colonization and education.
