The Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, today passed the third and final reading of a bill postponing the elections for the Chief Rabbinate for between six and 12 months from today. A rider, which would have extended the tenure of the last Chief Rabbinate which expired last October 22, until the new elections were held, was rejected by a vote of 38 to 18.
