The Executive Board of the Jewish Community of Vienna has announced that the strike of Jewish rabbis, cantors and grave diggers will not be allowed to interfere with marriages, burials and other religious ceremonies. The members of the board, it was announced, will step in and perform the duties of the Jewish religious workers during the strike.
The strike was called by the religious workers on March 20. They are demanding a thirty per cent increase in their salaries contending that they are unable to live on their present salaries. Chief Rabbi Chajes of Vienna is absent from the City. An attempt at reaching a settlement is being made.
