Dr. Giora Josephthal, treasurer of the Jewish Agency, was the guest at several luncheons arranged in his honor by leading New York banks, which included the Manufacturers Trust, National City Bank, Marine Midland Trust Company and the Bankers Trust Company.
The bank officials were interested in hearing a report of Israel’s economic progress. The occasions also served to exchange opinions on pending operational projects of the Jewish Agency. The luncheons were also attended by Gottlieb Hammer, executive director of the Jewish Agency in New York and liaison officer with the banks, who played a major role in the refunding loan negotiations last year.
