American generosity to those in distress has been “the worthiest ambassador any people have had in the world’s history,” Governor Lehman declared tonight in a Passover broadcast under the auspices of the Joint Distribution Committee, over the Mutual Broadcasting System. Governor Lehman said it was the paramount duty of Americans to defend their heritage of freedom which in many parts of the world was lost, and elsewhere was sorely threatened.
