Borough President Samuel Levy of Manhattan has accepted the chairmanship of the Holy Days Appeal of the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi League, it was announced today by the League. At the same time a call was issued by Samuel Untermyer, president of the League, urging temple leaders throughout the country to aid the League in its drive for a defense fund to continue the boycott against Nazi goods in this country.
This is the time of year, Mr. Untermyer pointed out, when Jews give special thought to their brethren in distress and not in generations has any group of Jews been so persecuted as the Jews of Germany. He urged that the leaders of the Jewish communities stress the fight on Hitlerism along two fronts: the intensification of sales resistance to German goods forcing all merchants to take Nazi merchandise from their shelves and to cease using German ships and services and the raising of funds so that the League may continue its boycott activities without curtailment.
