Ludwig Lore, N.Y. Post foreign news commentator, said in his column “Behind the Cables” today that the French decrees prohibiting anti-Semitic propaganda were “absolutely justified.”

Answering liberals in this country who condemned the edicts as dangerous infringement of civil rights, Mr. Lore cited the fate of the Weimar Republic which “protected the democratic rights of the Hitlerites and sentenced the republic and hundreds of thousands of her best citizens to death, to jail and concentration camps.”

“Hitler rules Germany and is a power in Europe,” the writer concluded, “because the German people gave him and his propagandists all the chance in the world to undermine the very democracy they wanted to protect.”
