The National Lutheran Council called upon the 5, 000, 000 members of churches affiliated with the Council to pray for divine guidance for the United States and the United Nations in their search for a “righteous” solution of the Middle East problem
The council, spokesman for eight Lutheran bodies in this country, called the current crisis in the Middle East ” a threat to peace that could easily lead to another world war.” It requested prayers to help ” those who represent us in Washington and in the United Nations so that righteousness may be exalted and peace conserved.”
