A warning that Great Britain’s toleration of pressure by Arab princes may result in their overthrow of the Palestine mandate was sounded in an editorial today by the Manchester Guardian.
The editorial criticized the “discrepancy” between the policy expressed by the government before Parliament and that “apparently pursued” in Palestine.
It pointed out that Parliament may soon have to declare whether it stands for the expressed policy of a Jewish National home in Palestine or if it is without any constructive plan for reconciling Arabs and Jews.
Urging Jews to present their case before the British Royal Commission, which has tentatively booked passage for Palestine in October, the editorial stigmatizes stoppage of Jewish immigration into the Holy Land as “a capital surrender.”
