Status of Transjordania, Palestine Loan Issue and Taxation Remedies Occupy Attention of M. P.s (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

Several questions vitally affecting the political and economic situation of Palestine were raised at yesterday’s session of the House of Commons, eliciting replies and promises of replies from Major Ormsby Gore, Understate Secretary in the Colonial Office.

Transjordania the natural hinterland of Palestine, will be recognized as an autonomous government whose administration will be carried on under the terms of the Palestine Mandate as modifed by the League of Nations’ memorandum of 1922, was the reply of Major Ormsby Gore to the question of Commander Kenworthy as to whether the new treaty between Great Britain and Emir Abdullah, ruler of Transjordania will alter Transjordania’s status. The Understate secretary added that he hopes the treaty with Transjordania will be concluded shortly.
