A total of 2,400 large Jewish enterprises have been “aryanized” in Rumania during 1941, according to information announced today over the Bucharest radio. The announcement said that the “aryanization” of Jewish enterprises in Rumania continues on a large scale.
Simultaneously, the Rumanian Minister of Finance today issued a decree aimed at intensifying the “Rumanization” of commercial establishments in the country. The decree says that the reduction in taxes which was granted since last June for properties passing from Jewish hands into Rumanian will not be granted to property acquired after March 31, thus it is up to Rumanians to secure all the Jewish property which they plan to buy before that date.
Food restrictions for Jews in Rumania are expected as a result of the growing shortage of bread there. A report reaching here today from Bucharest states that all bakers there were yesterday summoned to a special meeting at which they received instructions with regard to the baking of “ersatz bread” mixed with maize. Practically all the flour available in Rumania is being shipped by the Nazi military authorities there into Germany, for use by the German army.
