Meyer W. Weisgal, managing editor of the “New Palestine” and secretary of the Zionist Organization of America, returned from Palestine following a trip of several months, during which he visited Poland and Palestine.
“It is difficult for an affiliated Zionist to grow enthusiastic over Palestine. He would immediately be suspected of generating organization enthusiasm. The fact of the matter is, however, that Palestine suffers from a string of ‘conventional lies’ which make the proper understanding of its significance and of the situation there more and more difficult,” Mr. Weisgal stated.
“I believe that to properly understand the situation in Palestine even with the present unemployment, a previous visit to Poland and other East European countries is necessary. Such a visit would give each observer the proper perspective and appreciation of the difference between temporary relief values and the permanency of Palestine reconstruction,” he said.
