Miss Israel 1952, 20-year-old Michal Harrel of Jerusalem, arrived in New York today to take part in the United Jewish Appeal’s nationwide campaign. The young Israel beauty queen, a veteran of the 1948 War of Liberation and a kindergarten teacher in an immigrant work village, will spend the next three months visiting communities all over the United States on behalf of the U.J.A.’s $151,500,000 campaign.
The same flight brought Ezra E. Haddad, leader of the 110,000 Iraqi Jews whose transfer to Israel last year was made possible with funds raised through the United Jewish Appeal. Mr. Haddad, like Miss Israel, has come here for the U.J.A. and will tell the story of the dramatic air rescue from Iraq to campaign communities from coast-to-coast.
