The 22nd annual convention of the Mizrachi Women’s Organization of America today adopted a $1,000,000 budget for next year’s activities for rehabilitation of Jewish refugee children in Palestine. The sum represents twice the amount raised by the group last year.
Rabbi Wolf Gold, chairman of the executive of the World Mizrachi movement, ?hailed the U.S.-Soviet accord on implementation of partition and asserted that a “new period in the history of the Jewish people begins July, 1948.” The convention ?wired congratulations to Dr. Emanuel Neumann, president of the Z.O.A. and member of the Jewish Agency executive, crediting him with having originally proposed to the U.N. group attempting to reconcile the American and Russian views that the U.N. implementation commission be appointed by the General Assembly, but be responsible to the Security Council.
Plans for the establishment of an international religious Zionist women’s organization were disclosed at today’s sessions of the parley. Mrs. Devora Rabinowitz, of New York, was elected president to succeed Mrs. Samuel Goldstein. The convention closes tomorrow.
