Moscow Jewish Community Sends High Holiday Greeting to Jews Abroad

For the first time in the history of Soviet Russia the Jewish Community of Moscow, which now has its headquarters in Tashkent, serving thousands of Jews evacuated from the Ukraine, Byelorussia, Crimea and other Nazi-held parts of Russia, addressed High Holiday greetings to the Jews of the world, thus emphasizing that religion is no longer combatted by the Soviet regime.

The greeting, signed by Samuel Chobrutsky, president of the Moscow Jewish Community, was sent through the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. It reads: “Please convey to the Jews of the world, through the press, our hearty and warm congratulations and best wishes for a happy New Year. May the forthcoming year bring health, happiness, success and peace. May the New Year be a year of victory over the brutal and bestial enemy of mankind, a year of final destruction of Fascism, a year of liberty and prosperity for all progressive nations, including our own Jewish nation.”
