Nazis Press Drive on Jews in Clothing Industry

Reduction in Jewish control of the clothing industry in Berlin from 90 to 30 per cent is only the beginning of the drive to oust “non-Aryans” from the industry, Der Angriff, Nazi organ, declares today.

The paper asserts that only thirty per cent of the women’s clothing industry, accounting for not more than ten to twenty per cent of the total output, has been “Aryanized,” while 50 per cent of the German men’s clothing industry is still in Jewish hands. Jewish share of the industry in Berlin, according to Der Angriff, is still one third.

Devoting much space to “Adefa” and “Adebe,” two organizations to facilitate “Aryanization” of the clothing industry, the journal voices the hope that they will succeed in “purifying” the industry of Jews.

Special labels appeared on ready-made clothing sold in Berlin stores, testifying that the garments had been handled only by “Aryan hands” from the weaver to the retailer, the Havas News Agency reported. This practice, adopted at the suggestion of the anti- Semitic league of the ready-made clothing trade, will be extended to cover linen, hats, umbrellas, braces, neckties, and other articles, it was stated.

At Munich the anti-Semitic exposition entitled “The Eternal Jew,” which opened last Nov. 8, closed its doors after receiving 412,000 visitors, Havas reported.
