Pledge Made in Cablegram to Louis Lipsky
Sir John Robert Chancellor, who has just assumed office as the new High Commissioner of Palestine, looks forward to the co-operation of the Zionist Organization in his administration of England’s mandatory, according to a cablegram received by Louis Lipsky, president of the Zionist Organization of America, in answer to the latter’s congratulatory cablegram on Sir John’s assumption of office.
In his cable the High Commissioner said: “Warm thanks for your message of good wishes on my assumption of office as High Commissioner. I look forward to the co-operation of your Organization in the task of upbuilding Palestine.”
Mr. Lipsky’s congratulatory message read: “The Zionist Organization of America sends you greetings upon assumption of your duties as High Commissioner of Palestine. Firm in its faith that the British Government will carry out pledge to Jewish people for the establishment of the Jewish National Home in Palestine, the Zionist Organization of America feels confident that under your leadership and high statesmanship the task will be accelerated in the spirit of your inauguration address. The Zionist Organization of America pledges its continued co-operation in the material and spiritual development of the historic home of the Jewish people.”
