Lord Gort, newly arrived High Commissioner of Palestine, was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd when he toured Tel Aviv during the week-end. He was received by Mayor Israel Rokach, who reviewed this all-Jewish city’s history. In a brief address, Lord Gort promised he would cooperate with all the inhabitants of Palestine to further the general welfare.
