Two Jewish supporters of the local Arab nationalist movement–Victor Barranes and Andre Barouch–who were interned in southern Tunisia, were not among the nationalist leaders granted amnesty by the French authorities on the occasion of the Moslem Ramadhan holiday.
Reports circulating here say that the French commander in Tunis will order Barranes released on grounds of insufficient evidence. The evidence against Barouch, however, is said to be overwhelming, indicating considerable financial assistance to the nationalists.
