The state attorney of this city has filed an appeal against the district court’s sentence of one year’s imprisonment for Ludwig Zind, local anti-Semitic high school teacher who was convicted of insulting the Jewish community of Germany and defaming the memory of Jews murdered by the Nazis.The prosecutor believes the verdict is too light.
Zind’s attorneys, meanwhile, have filed an appeal against the conviction and sentence Pending a final determination in the higher courts, the school authorities have suspended Zind.If the conviction is allowed to stand, he will be dismissed.
Both the court and the state’s attorney have received a rash of anonymous letters threatening and abusing them. A few letters have arrived expressing approval of the prosecution and the court’s decision.
