The Jewish Community here today made public the results of a census showing that only 9,770 Jews are now living in Vienna. There were more than 180,000 Jews in the city before World War II.
According to the date published by the Community, more than 58,500 Viennese Jews perished in Hitler’s concentration camps, while the rest emigrated to various countries. The Jewish community is now supporting 800 members who are without any income. It also supports 95 Jewish students in Austrian universities.
