Orthodox Jewish advocates say they will appeal a U.S. judge’s ruling that New York state’s kosher laws violate the constitutional separation between church and state. The judge ruled in favor of a Long Island butcher who claimed that the laws requiring items to be kosher according to Orthodox standards discriminate against his store, which is supervised by a Conservative rabbi.
