Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem are impeding the progress of the work of the Nahum Sloush Expedition, which is excavating about Jerusalem in a search for relics of biblical times. Information to this effect is contained in a lengthy report in today’s London Times, which also publishes with the article a number of photographs of the ruins which have already
been uncovered by the Sloush Expedition. Among the photographs those of the tomb of Absalom, which dates back to the Maccabean period and another of the tomb of Jehoshaphat which dates back still further.
The Orthodox are impeding the work by reason of their protests which they base on the contention that the excavations are disturbing to the graves of the Zadikim around the excavated tombs.
