Palestinian artists urged a British musician to cancel an upcoming concert in Israel to protest the West Bank security fence. Roger Waters, a British singer-songwriter from the band Pink Floyd — known for the hit “Another Brick in the Wall” — announced recently that he would perform in Tel Aviv this summer. This angered many Palestinians, who had been buoyed by Waters’ past campaigning against what they call the West Bank “wall.” A group of artists wrote a letter asking Waters to cancel the concert, but were rebuffed. “I would not rule out going to Israel because I disapprove of the foreign policy any more than I would refuse to play in the U.K. because I disapprove of Tony Blair’s foreign policy,” Waters told the Guardian newspaper, referring to Britain’s prime minister.
