A conference of European Zionist leaders today protested the anti-Zionist campaign in Eastern Europe and demanded that the Jews of the Communist countries be granted the right to migrate to Israel. A resolution adopted by the meeting asserted that the “most effective reply to the Moscow attacks” was the strengthening of the State of Israel and the Zionist organization.
The Labor Party and Trades Union Council of Liverpool today adopted a resolution expressing its ”shock” at the tendencies toward anti-Semitism in the Soviet Union and the “slander, abuse and misinterpretation of the Zionist movement and the Jews in Prague, Berlin and Moscow.”
The resolution also demanded the “human right of the Jews to emigrate to the Socialist State of Israel if they so desire.” It also asked the U.S.S.R. for assurance that the Jews and other minorities would have the full rights and protection to which they are entitled and that there will be “no recurrence of the Hitlerite horrors” in the Soviet Union and its satellites.
Len Helder, a non-Jew and councillor of the Dutch Navy Base, resigned from the Dutch Communist Party in protest against the East, European attacks against Jews, it was reported here today from Amsterdam.
