Gen. Juan Domingo Peron, the new President of Argentina, and his wife, Maria Estella Martinez de Peron, the new Vice-President, met with Yaakov Tsur, chairman of the Jewish National Fund and a former Israeli Ambassador to Argentina. Tsur was accompanied by the present Israeli Ambassador, Eliezer Doron, Tsur told reporters he gave Peron a letter from Israeli Premier Golda Meir, written before the outbreak of the war, in which she stressed strengthening of mutual relations between the two countries. Doron gave Peron a later message from Mrs. Meir asking for Argentina’s support for peace negotiations and explaining what was taking place on the war fronts.
