Counterfeit Israeli currency found recently on an Egyptian Jewish refugee in Milan is of too good a quality to have been printed by any except an official Egyptian agency, police experts here believe.
The refugee in Italy told police that he had been given some 6, 000 pounds in Israeli notes when he was forced to sell his business before being expelled by authorities of the Nasser regime. Most of his notes were of 10-pound denomination, but others of smaller denomination have turned up elsewhere, the Israeli police report. The extent of the operation, the Israelis point out, rule out the possibility that the forged notes were turned out in a small, hole-in-the-wall printing shop.
