The police have failed to clear up the mysterious killing and wounding of several Jews from Safed who were sheltered in the police barracks after the massacre it was disclosed today by the Hebrew newspaper “Doar Hayom.” On the Saturday following the massacre, says the “Doar Hayom,” a trooper of the Transjordanian defense force boasted in the presence of Habib Hadad, a Sephardic Jew from Tiberias whom he mistook for an Arab, that at dawn he had fired on the Jews in the police barracks.
The trooper repeated the same story to another Jewish youth, continues the “Doar Hayom,” who after drawing him out informed the police in Tiberias. The latter questioned the trooper but then released him. This week, six months after the event, the police held identification parades in various places without finding the trooper.
