What virtually amounted to anti-Jewish raids were carried out by the Hungarian police in the last few days In the towns and villages in Northern Hungary. The gendarmerie and police surrounded Jewish homes and synagogues and arrested 391 persons on the charge of being aliens. Among those arrested are persons who Lave lived in Hungary for the past thirty years. The action of the police called forth a vigorous protest on the part of the Jewish population. Deputies of the government party have addressed appeals to the autorities to stop the anti-Jewish raids.
