In this historic Jewish community’s home of the oldest Jewish house of worship on the Pacific Coast, P. Allen Rickles, highest ranking B’ain B’rith officer in the state of Washington and widly-known for his Jewish activities throughout the Northwest, was recipient of unusual honors here at a B’nai B’rith meeting.
Mr. Rickles, after installing officers of Victoria Lodge, B’nai B’rith and its anxiliary, addressed a gathering at a joint meeting of the lodge and its women’s unit on problems confronting present-day Jewry. He emphasized the importance of the B’nai B’rith.
His talk so deeply moved his listeners that Rabbi M. Berner, Victoria’s only Jewish spiritual leader, asked the audience to join in a prayer for Mr. Rickles.
