Reports here today said the Israeli army has undertaken preventive activities near the Moslem township of Bint-a-Jabil in southern Lebanon in response to the arrival of terrorist elements there. According to the reports, the action is similar to measures taken in the past that did not involve a crossing of the border by Israeli forces. The nature of the action remained undisclosed. Sources said it was taken to deter terrorists from any action against Israel and to let them know that the Israeli army is on the alert and fully aware of their presence.
According to intelligence reports, confirmed by Lebanese villagers coming to the gap in the border fence, the terrorists have tightened their grip on Bint-a-Jabil in the central section of the border region which has now become their main base. Except for terrorist units in Fatahland further east, there have been no reports of terrorists in other regions of southern Lebanon.
